    Junior Hawks Golf Camp Entering Grades 3-6 Westonka Community Education Golf Instructor Gary Wollner will introduce participants to the lifetime sport of golf, and help experienced youth golfers continue in skill development, technique, and golf fundamentals. The goal of this program is to encourage kids to have fun playing golf. Instruction will cover topics such as putting, chipping and the full swing. Participants are required to bring their own clubs.     Mound Westonka Boys Hockey Summer Training Program Welcome to the Mound Westonka Summer Hockey Development program. We are excited to again offer our program to both youth and high school boys hockey players. The purpose of this program is to introduce and improve upon hockey skills and foster a love and passion for the game. All sessions are held at Thaler Sports Center.     Westonka Big Man OL/DL Football Camp Grades 7 - 12 The Westonka Big Man Football Camp is a three-day Grades 7-12 football camp is dedicated exclusively to the most important part of any football team, the offensive and defensive linemen…the guys in the trenches. The Westonka Big Man OL/DL Football Camp strives to provide intensive instruction for football players wishing to improve their overall skill level. We will focus on the fundamentals of the game of football with high repetition drill work and teaching from highly qualified coaches.     Westonka Composite Mountain Biking Team Grades 7 - 12 We are going out for a second year of our new Westonka Composite Mountain Biking Team! The 2021 season will be our second successful year! In the past we were part of the Orono team. We will continue to practice together with Orono, attend the same races together and share tent space. Mountain Bikers participate in the Minnesota High School Cycling League whose mission is to build strong minds, bodies, character and communities through cycling. The league firmly believes that cycling and an outdoor experience will leave a lasting impression on young minds and bodies. The Mountain Biking Team competes in weekend races around Minnesota September through October. Experienced and new riders welcome!     Westonka Performance Program (WPP) | Summer season Entering Grades 6 - 12 The mission of the Westonka Performance Program (WPP) is to capture the hearts and minds of our students through a rigorous and regimented physical preparation program. The Westonka Performance Program (WPP) will provide each student with an innovative, year - round athletic development program focused on improving speed, strength, power, agility, mobility, and endurance. This Westonka Performance Program (WPP) is designed for the developing, competitive athlete. The focus will be on strength training fundamentals including: powerlifting movements, plyometrics, acceleration, deceleration, speed, agility, and energy system efficiency. All activities are age/skill appropriate, professionally designed, and constructed with athletic performance and injury resilience in mind. The Westonka Performance Program (WPP) is led by Coach Zack Nauert. Coach Nauert has worked with hundreds of athletes ranging from 7 years old to professional athletes (NFL, MLB, MLS). He has worked with athletes that have gone on to earn NCAA D1, D2, & D3 scholarships along with athletes participating in the NFL Scouting Combine. Zack is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Zack is also a certified USA Weightlifting level 1 coach and certified in Reflex Performance Reset (RPR).     Westonka Youth Football (WYF) Entering Grades 3 & 4: Westonka Youth Football-Flag Football League Entering Grades 5 & 6: Westonka Youth Football-WCHS Area Tackle Football League The Westonka Youth Football program provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized flag and tackle football. Tackle football participants will compete against teams from the surrounding area, while flag football participants will complete in an in-house league. The WYF will form tackle football teams at grades 5 and 6 and will form flag football teams at grades 3 and 4. Visit the WYF website at www.westonkayouthfootball.org for more information. **There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Monday, August 16 after Evaluations** Third and 4th Grade Season Information A mandatory parent meeting for ALL grades will be held on Monday, August 9 from 5:30-6:15 p.m. in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on Monday, August 16 at 6:30 pm at the MWHS South Practice Fields. Practices will begin on Tuesday, August 17 with a pre-season game on Thursday, August 26th. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Mound. Games will only take place on Saturdays and will officially begin on Saturday, September 4. Fifth and 6th Grade Season Information A mandatory parent meeting for ALL grades will be held on Monday, August 9th from 6:30-715 p.m. in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on August 16 and 17 beginning at 6 pm at the MWHS South Practice Fields. Practices will begin on Thursday, August 19 and games will begin after Labor Day and run until mid-October. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Teams will set their own practice schedules once formed and coaches have been designated. Games will only take place on Saturdays. Games run approximately 90 minutes. Uniforms Tackle Football Jerseys: This year WYF will be purchasing and collecting the uniforms at the conclusion of the season. WYF will collect a $60 check from each participant on the first night of evaluations. This check will not be cashed unless a participant fails to return the jersey at the conclusion of the season. Once the jersey is returned, WYF will shred the original check. Flag Football League T-Shirts: Flag Football participants will receive a league t-shirt that they are able to keep at the conclusion of the season. Equipment Westonka Youth Football is a parent sponsored equipment program. Items that must be purchased by the parents include: Tackle Football Equipment: Charcoal/Grey football pants with pads, white helmet with a hard chin strap, cleats (no metal spikes), shoulder pads, mouth guards, and practice jersey (any white or red football jersey will work). A protective cup is optional. Game jerseys and socks are provided and will be handed out at practice before games begin. Players may keep game socks at the end of the season, however, jerseys will be returned back to WYF at the conclusion of the season. Flag Football Equipment: Black shorts or sweatpants, tennis shoes or cleats (no metal spikes). Game t-shirts are provided and will be handed out at practice before games begin. Players will learn the base plays of the Mound Westonka offense, base fronts, and coverages on defense. Participants will be grouped according to age and/or ability level.
