    Westonka Youth Football (WYF)Entering Grades 3 & 4: Westonka Youth Football - Flag Football LeagueEntering Grades 5 & 6: Westonka  Youth Football - WCHS Area Tackle Football LeagueThe Westonka Youth Football program provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized flag and tackle football and compete against teams from the surrounding area. The WYF will form tackle football teams at Grades 5 & 6, and will compete against other area programs. Visit the WYF website at www.westonkayouthfootball.org for more information.Third and Fourth Grade Season information A mandatory parent meeting for ALL flag football participants will be held on Monday, August 5 at 6 pm in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on Monday, August 19 at 6 pm at Mound Westonka High School Field 12 (Track Field). Practices will begin on Tuesday, August 20 with a pre-season game on Saturday, August 24. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 - 7:15 pm in Mound. Games will only take place on Saturdays from 10:15 - 11:15 am and will officially being on Saturday, September 7.Fifth and Sixth Grade Season Information A mandatory parent meeting for ALL tackle football participants will be held on Monday, August 5 at 6:45 pm in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on August 12 and 13 beginning at 6 pm at the MWHS South Practice Fields. Practices will begin on Thursday, August 15 and games will begin after Labor Day and run until mid-October. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6 - 7:30 pm. Teams will set their own practice schedules once formed and coaches have been designated. Games will only take place on Saturdays. Games run approximately 90 minutes.Uniforms Tackle Football Jerseys: This year WYF will be purchasing and collecting the uniforms at the conclusion of the season. WYF will collect a $60 check from each participants on the first night of evaluations. This check will NOT be cashed unless a participants fails to return the jersey at the conclusion of the season. Once the jersey is returned, WYF will return the original check back to the participant. Flag Football League Shirts: Flag Football Participants will receive a league shirt that they are able to keep at the conclusion of the season.Equipment Westonka Youth Football is a parent-sponsored equipment program. Items that must be purchased by parents include: white football pants with pads, white helmet with hard chin strap, shoes (no metal spikes), shoulder pads, mouth guards, and practice jersey (any white or red football jersey will work). A protective cup is optional. Game jerseys and socks are provided and will be handed out at practice before games begin. Participants will be grouped by grade and will play age appropriate activities led by MWHS Coaches and players.
