Please read through carefully**The Westonka Youth Football programs provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized Flag and Tackle Football and compete against teams from the surrounding area. The WYF will form tackle football teams at Grades 5 & 6, and will compete against other area programs. WYF will form Flag football teams at Grades 3 & 4, and will participate in an In-House program with the possibility of playing against other local Flag Football programs.CoachingIf you are interested in volunteer coaching at any of the age levels listed above, please contact Lindsey Rague, Westonka Area Youth Football Director at 952.491.8047 or email raguel@westonka.k12.mn.usVisit the WYF website at www.westonkayouthfootball.org for more information.There will be a mandatory coaches meeting and clinic on Monday, August 13 following evaluations.3rd and 4th Grade Season informationA mandatory parent meeting for ALL grades will be held on Monday, August 6 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on Monday, August 21 with a pre-season game on Saturday, August 25. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Mound. Games will only take place on Saturdays and will officially begin on Saturday, September 18.5th and 6th Grade Season InformationA mandatory parent meeting for ALL grades will be held on Monday, August 6 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the Little Theater at MWHS. Evaluations will take place on August 13 and 14 beginning at 6 pm in the MWHS South Practice Fields. Practices will begin on Thursday, August 16, and games will begin after Labor Day and run until mid-October. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Teams will set their own practice schedules once formed and coaches have been designated. Games will only take place on Saturdays. Games run approximately 90 minutes.Uniforms  Tackle Football Jerseys: This year WYF will be purchasing and collecting uniforms at the end of the season. WYF will collect a $60 check from each participant on the first night of evaluations. This check will not be cashed unless a participant fails to return the jersey at the conclusion of the season. Once the jersey is returned, WYF will return the original check back to the participant.Flag Football League Shirts: Flag Football participants will receive a league shirt that they are able to keep at the conclusion of the season. EquipmentWestonka Youth Football is a parent sponsored equipment program. Items that must be purchased by the parents include: white football pants with pads, white helmet with hard chin strap, shoes (no metal spikes), shoulder pads, mouth guards, and practice jersey (any white or red football jersey will work). A protective cup is optional. Games jerseys and socks are provided and will be handed out at practice before games begin.     White Hawks Football Developmental CampEntering Grades 5 - 8This full-padded developmental football camp will focus on specific position play as well as offensive and defensive schemes taught within the Mound Westonka Football Program. Players will learn offensive and defensive positions as well as the fundamentals used in special teams play. Players will learn the base plays of the Mound Westonka offense, base fronts and coverages on defense. Participants will be grouped according to age and/or ability level. All participants will receive a camp t-shirt. Instructors: MWHS Varsity Football Coaching Staff, current and former Mound Westonka Football players.Equipment needed: helmet, shoulder pads, mouth guard, practice jersey, football pants, and cleats**All football equipment is provided for 7 - 8 grade players.     White Hawks Football Skills CampEntering Kindergarten - Grade 4This non-contact football camp will focus on the fundamentals of blocking, tackling, passing, receiving, ball handling, punting, and kicking. Players will apply these fundamentals through drills and fun, competitive games. Participants will be grouped according to age and/or ability level. All participants will receive a camp t-shirt.
