  • Destination Imagination (Grades 1- 12)

    Destination ImaginationGrades 1- 12Destination Imagination (DI) is a worldwide, creative problem-solving, team competition geared toward helping kids developing a variety of life skills, while getting hands-on experiences. DI offers high quality, STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Challenges that help bridge the gap between what students learn in school and the skills they will need to thrive in an ever-changing economy. Teams are faced with solving one  of seven predetermined challenges by collectively applying their individual talents, skills, abilities, and ideas to present the most creative and unique solution possible. Destination Imagination is the world's largest creative problem solving programs for youth of all ages, with more than 150,000 participants in 48 US States and 30 different countries participating annually. Teams will present their solutions at the West Metro Regional Tournament at the end of February, top scoring teams will advance to the State Tournaments in April and teams that place first, second or third at State will advance to Global FInals in Kansas City, Missouri the end of May. Start a team with friends, or join a team and make new ones! Teams consist of three to seven members and the team will decide when and where they will practice. DI challenge materials are not released until September 1 and new teams will be formed after that date, or as soon as they get registered. Team managers are needed for this program. Training and support is available for all volunteer leaders, and each leader must complete a background check. More information will be given out after teams have been formed and are registered. After completing this course, students sign up with a commercial driving school and receive a blue card needed prior to taking the permit test. After passing the permit test, students take six hours of Behind-the-Wheel instruction at a cost of $330 -$350 through a commercial driving school. Bring paper and pencil to class. The spirit of GMS Theatre will continue to build character, explore the arts, and form friendships in an inclusive, welcoming and fun environment. All students must be registered in order to audition. Show title, auditions dates and rehearsal dates will be announced at a later date.A rehearsal schedule will be sent home and updated in Schoology every two weeks to allow for family scheduling. Not every character will have rehearsal each day. Actors are allowed three missed rehearsals with prior notice to the directors.
