Individual Violin/Viola Lessons with Ann Bur Ages 6 - Adult One on one violin or viola lessons will be offered this year for students of all ages and abilities up through Suzuki Book 5 or the equivalent. Students will develop a true love for violin/viola and music in general through personalized lessons. There will be no make-up lessons for missed classes unless it is a weather or instructor related cancellation. Instructor Ann Bur directed the Hilltop Strings for Kids program and has taught Violin lessons for over 20 years. Students must provide their own instrument. Individual Band Instrument Lessons Ages 10 - Adult As a band director, Lucy Davis enjoyed a successful career in both public and private schools for over 30 years, working with students or varied ages and abilities in all areas of band performance and stage musicals. With degrees in both music education and performance, Lucy has served as a state-level music contest judge, taught private studio lessons, and been a licensed athletic coach as well. Meeting each student where they are while developing the joy of making music as well as the technique, skill and musical understanding to reach their musical goals is one of her aims as an educator. As an active performer specializing in brass, Lucy continues to play in both community and professional settings. There will be no makeup lessons for missed classes, unless it is weather or instructor related cancellation. Individual Guitar or Ukulele Lessons Ages 6 - Adult Have you always wanted to learn how to play the guitar? Students young and old love it! Sign up for one-on-one beginning, intermediate, or advanced guitar lessons and learn chords, scales, solo technique, and some of your favorite songs. Our instructor Greg Sletten teaches all levels of guitar and bass students, and will take the students to a level of playing beyond their expectations. Lessons with Greg are fun while he teaches towards the student’s needs, respecting the interests of each individual. There will be no make-up lessons for missed classes, unless it is a weather or instructor related cancellation. There will be a one-time $10 materials fee payable to the instructor. Individual Voice Lessons with Liz Strauss Ages 7 - Adult Liz Strauss will help enhance your child or your vocal skills for singing. Liz holds a Bachelor's degree in Music (classical piano and opera), amongst others, and has been traveling the world as a solo singer/pianist for 15 years. Liz can tutor all ages, in any genre of singing - Broadway musicals being the most popular. Even if you just want to improve your choir singing voice, do so with a well-rounded, well-traveled musician - Liz! Jump Start Lessons Grades 5 and 6 Do you have a student who will be participating in band for the first time this fall, but can't attend GMS Band Camp? Our Jump Start program is a great alternative! Students will engage in four one-on-one lessons on consecutive days to get a head start on their instrument. Instruction will focus on how to take care of the instrument, read music notation, and make the first sounds on the instrument.
