    GMS Musical - Mary Poppins Jr.Grades 5 - 8Join us in the brand new Westonka Performing Arts Center for a magical journey through 1930's London! Mary Poppins Jr. is filled with over 20 speaking parts and 20 musical numbers. The spirit of GMS Theatre will continue to build character, explore the arts, and form friendships in an inclusive, welcoming and fun environment. All students must be registered in order to audition. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, December 18 in the GMS cafeteria, band room and choir room. Fifth and sixth graders will audition from 2:40 - 3:40 pm and seventh and eight graders from 4 - 5 pm. Students will read a scene with other actors in front of a small audience and sing a song with the same group. Everyone is cast in the show.Rehearsals will be Monday - Friday beginning Monday, January 7 from 2:40 - 4:30 pm, for music and choreography. Blocking begins in February. There will be a parents meeting scheduled at a later date. A rehearsal schedule will be sent home and updated in Schoology every two weeks to allow for family scheduling. Not every character will have rehearsal each day. Actors are allowed three missed rehearsals with prior notice to the directors.     Prairie Fire Theatre presents - Tom SawyerAges 7 - 18January 28 - February 2, 2019Join Westonka Community Education & Services and Prairie Fire Children's Theatre  for another theater residency. Anyone ages 7 - 18 can register to perform in this original musical production of Tom Sawyer. Auditions will be held Monday, January 28 from 5 - 7 pm at the Westonka Performing Arts Center, followed by rehearsal from 7:15 - 8:15 pm (based on your character role). Pre-registration is required prior to auditions. All who register and audition will be guaranteed a part in the production.Rehearsals will be held throughout the remainder of the week at the Westonka Performing Arts Center. Rehearsal schedules will be available at the audition and generally run from 3:45 - 8 pm with a 15-minute break halfway through the rehearsal for dinner. Please pack a meal each day. Performances will be Friday, February 1 at 7 pm and Saturday, February 2 at 1 pm in the Westonka Performing Arts Center.On Friday, February 1, there will be a rehearsal starting at 3:45 pm before the performance, which will include a dress rehearsal. Students should pack a dinner for that evening and come prepared with all their performance materials.
