Private Tutoring Grades K - 8 (Grades 9 - 12 upon request) Does your child need a little extra help in school? One on One tutoring may be the answer. Your child's tutor will work with you and your student through an evaluation process, testing, goal setting, and will personalize tutoring sessions to fit the needs of your child. Tutors will work with the child's schedule to suit your family's needs. Licensed teachers have been hired for private tutoring. Driver’s Education Students 14 ½ years and older This class includes 30 hours of classroom instruction. Students must attend every session; state law requires 30 hours of classroom instruction. After completing this course, students sign up with a commercial driving school and receive a blue card needed before taking the permit test. After passing the permit test, students take six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction through a commercial driving school. Bring paper and a pencil to class. Instructor Pam Garvais is certified by the State Board of Education and the MN Department of Transportation. Please note: one White Card will be issued to a student upon the successful completion of their required 30-hour course. An additional $20 (cash only) will be charged to replace a lost or missing card white or blue card. FIRST LEGO League Grades 5 - 7 FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a program where students in Grades 5 - 7 design, build, program, and test an autonomous robot using LEGO Spike Prime robots to solve a set of missions. Students will engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering to discover a solution to a real-world problem while building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates through missions. Their creativity, ingenuity, and hard work will be presented at the regional tournament. The Team Managers will act as facilitators to guide the students and help with building a robot, research, and understand core values. Prior knowledge of robotics or programming is not required, only a desire to learn and have fun! Challenge Season: Weekly team meetings will start at the beginning of the school year and meet after school at Grandview Middle School. Coaches will coordinate with parents if more meetings are needed as tournament time approaches. In late November or early December, we will compete in the Regional Tournament. Pumpkin Pie, Oh My! Realistic Art and Tasting Grades 5 - 7 In this class, students will use drawing chalk to create realistic pumpkin pie art, from the crust textures to the creamy filling and whipped cream. Students will have the option to sample pumpkin pie while they create!
